San Diego Polo all set for a special day to benefit Sentebale
Lindsey Chronert tells us about the details of the charity event in aid of Prince Harry's charity
Lindsey Chronert, Polo manager of the SDPC, would love to count on the presence of Prince Harry at the club sometime in the future.
All is ready at the San Diego Polo Club for Sunday, June 24, when this venue will host a special day to benefit Sentebale, in aid of Prince Harry's charity. So as to find out about the event and what the people attending the event can expect, LivngPolo spoke with Lindsey Chronert, Polo Manager of the San Diego Polo Club.
LivingPolo: What does the fact of the Sentebale Day forming part of the club's calendar of events mean to the San Diego Polo Club?
Lindsey Chronert: "We are honored to host events to benefit such an esteemed charity. We have worked with many charities, but especially look forward to a implementing a long-term plan to produce internationally recognized events such as those to benefit Sentebale. Connecting Prince Harry's personal charity to San Diego is not only wonderful for our Polo club, but it is a great benefit for the City of San Diego and community as a whole. Our goal is to recognize Sentebale for their efforts in Lesotho and Africa, and help Sentebale increase awareness and grow their work in the USA".
LivingPolo: From a personal point of view, what expectations are generated by this important event for this club that you manage?
Lindsey Chronert: "This is the first year we are hosting an event to benefit Sentebale, so we don't have any particular expectations. We know that our inaugural event will be simple and elegant, but in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. We hope that the focus of the event benefiting Prince Harry's personal charity will bring new polo fans to our Polo Club -and we can turn them into avid polo fans!"
LivingPolo: Could you tell us what can be expected by those attending the event?
Lindsey Chronert: "We will have two polo matches, African music and dance, a silent auction, and an introduction to Sentebale for those who don't know much about the charity. Like any polo match, there will be champagne with friends, San Diego sunshine, and the pageantry of polo. We also have an opportunity for attendees to win a $17,000 pair of Emerald and Diamond earrings donated by a local jeweler, CJ Charles. The chance tickets are priced at $50, and may be purchased at this link. Winner need not be present, so all of the LivingPolo fans throughout the world may purchase tickets to win the earrings, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Sentebale".
LivingPolo: Are there other charity events in the San Diego Polo Club's calendar?
Lindsey Chronert: "We are keen to support many charities in the San Diego area, so we host various events to benefit our community. In late September, we will host charity events for the San Diego Symphony and San Diego Opera. In addition, we will be volunteering at TERI, Inc.'s Campus of Life".
LivingPolo: Prince Harry is an avid polo fan. How important would it be to count with his presence on the fields of the SDPC some day?
Lindsey Chronert: "The San Diego Polo Club would love to host a tournament with Prince Harry joining us! Whether he is the guest of honour or playing in the match, we would be honored to have him at the San Diego Polo Club. Needless to say, Prince Harry's presence would attract interest across the nation and raise awareness about our club and the sport of polo--but with an important net effect of increasing support for Sentebale".
LivingPolo: What message would you give those thinking of attending this event?
Lindsey Chronert: "Polo is a perfect way to spend a Sunday. Whether you are bringing your friends to enjoy champagne and lunch in the VIP tent, tailgating with burgers and pasta salad, or sitting with your family in the picnic area, there is truly something for everyone. We will have amazing auction items available, and most importantly, all proceeds are given to benefit the work of Sentebale. Come ready to have fun, watch polo and give back!"
