Snow Polo World Cup gets going in China

Twelve teams in Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club-hosted event

With countries representing five continents competing for honours, the long-awaited 1st edition of the Snow Polo World Cup got off to a start on Thursday, February 2nd at the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club, in China, fiscalized by the Federation of International Polo (FIP).

Hong Kong - China, India, South Africa, England, Italy, France, United States of America, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Australia and New Zealand are the teams taking part in the event, each of them as three-player line-ups.

On the opening day, Hong Kong – China defeated India 4-2, England defeated South Africa 7-6, and Argentina drew 4-all with United States. However, the South American trio emerged 8-7 victorious following the penalty decider.

The action is due to resume on Friday 3rd, with the following fixtures: Italy vs. Australia, Chile vs. New Zealand, and Brazil vs. France. Qualifying matches will continue to be played until Tuesday 7th, the quarter-finals will be played on Thursday 9th, the semi-finals on Saturday 11th and the final (and the third-place decider) on Sunday 12th.
