Mamuil Malal claims Challenger title
Over 1,500 people enjoyed watching the region's best polo
Weather forecasts aside, between Junín and San Martín de los Andes the sun shone over the Grahn family's Mamuil Malal team, that claimed the title on a spectacular day of polo action at the El Desafío Mountain Resort.
The subsidiary final was won by the Quemquentreu team, that defeated Arelauquen prior to the match in which the team formed by Bertil Grahn and his three sons, Andino, Silvestre and Estanislao, defeated home team El Desafío and claimed the Copa 2012 organized by the mentioned club.
Despite there being rainfalls forecasted, the El Desafío Mountain Resort was accompanied by a beautiful afternoon, and the field maintained its terrific condition despite eight matches having been played there, with the two finalist teams exhibiting some first-class polo, much to the enjoyment of all those in attendance, with plenty of goals being scored and the teams going all out for victory.
For the second year running, the event attracted a huge amount of people, especially during the last two matches of the cup, after which came the award ceremony and the event's closing party. Andrés Sorzana, Polo manager of the Club, who received the MVP award of the final, and Marcelo Arredondo, manager of this enterprise, showed great satisfaction in view of the high level of the event, and of the impeccable conditions of the field, which has thus proved to be one of the best in the country.
The award corresponding to the top scorer went to Martín García Laborde, of the Arelauquen team. The hosting club received the Fairplay award.
Following the success of the Copa El Desafío, the event is most likely to become an absolute must in what refers to the regions polo dates.
