England claims Coronation Cup
Home team defeats Brazil in Cartier International Day event and retains title in its 100th Anniversary
One of the most awaited polo events each year took place on Sunday, July 24th: the Cartier International Day, at the Guards Polo Club. This is an event in which the English national team takes on a guest team.
On this occasion, the English team was able to celebrate in style, as this was the 100th edition of the traditional event, defeating Brazil 8-6 and claiming the Coronation Cup. In the process, England retained the title which it won in 2010 by defeating the New Zealand team, after having lost against Argentina in 2009.
In the support match, the Prince of Wales foursome defeated Hurlingham 13-6 and took home the Golden Jubilee Trophy. The winning team was formed by Malcolm Borwick (handicap 6), Ed Hitchman (5), George Meyrick (4) and Nick Pepper (3), who played against Jonny Good (5), Jack Richardson (3), Max Charlton (4) and Chris Hyde (6).
