La Irenita claims Copa 9 de Julio
Magdala Polo Club's top event ends, together with kids' championship
The Copa 9 de Julio ended late afternoon on Sunday, July 17th at the Magdala Polo Club, this being the venues leading tournament of the year. The event included Open and Handicap sections, together with a championship for youngsters.
With the Copa 9 de Julio Intagro (14 to 21 goals) up for grabs, La Irenita proceeded to win the Open final against Magdala, by 7-4. In what refers to Handicap honours (Copa Magdala Cargill), El Mirador claimed the trophy by defeating Coronel Suárez relatively comfortably, 13-7, after starting off with a 5-goal handicap advantage. The Banco Galicia subsidiary cup was won by La Fe, that defeated La Araucaria 14-7.
In what refers to the youngsters' championship (Magdala Menores Tomás Hnos.), in which nine teams of players aged between 9 and 14 years took part, La Ñata overcame La Sofía 5-3 in the deciding match. During the awards ceremony, the Ricardo Díaz prize was handed to the best horse: the Iñaki Polo blanket went to La Bruja, ridden by Claudio Palomeque (La Irenita).
