There was a bit of an upset during the penultimate day of qualifying matches corresponding to the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup, England and Europe's leading polo event, which is going ahead at Cowdray Park Polo Club.

The fact is that on Wednesday, July 6th, Sumaya lost its first match -after four outings in the event- against Zacara. Other clashes saw Loro Piana defeat Talandracas 10-7, and Las Monjitas narrowly edge Thai Polo, 9-8.

This leading and traditional tournament, in which 18 teams with handciaps ranging between 21 and 22 goals are taking part, will have its last day of qualifying matches on Thursday, July 7th: Stella Artois vs. Emlor, La Golondrina vs. Piaget, and 1870 vs. Les Lions.
