European Polo Championship gets going in Austria
England, Italy, Germany, all first-day winners

Following lengthy preparations, the 2010 edition of the European Polo Championship finally kicked off on Friday, September 3rd at Polo Club Schloss Ebreichsdorf, in Austria, and will last until Sunday, September 12th.
On the opening day, Slovakia and England played the first match, with the latter-mentioned foursome easily winning 13-6. Then came the match between the home team, Austria, and Italy, which also was a comfortbale victory for the winners, Italy: 13-4½. Bringing the afternoon to an end, Germany defeated Holland 6-4.
The next matches will take place on Saturday 4th, with four event debutants in three of the matches: Spain vs. Italy, France vs. Germany, and Hungary vs. Switzerland. The day's other match will see England clash with Austria.
