2nd Annual Polo for the Planet
This is an event which leads us to think in ecology, and also, to look after our planet a bit more
On June 5th, Prestonwood Polo and Country Club, located in Texas, United States, hosted the 2nd annual Polo for the Planet event.
It was an informative, fun and educational event produced by the Ladies Polo Auxiliary on all things GREEN, featuring two polo matches for entertainment.
The Green pavilion held 20+ eco friendly vendors with products such as human powered transportation, handmade jewelry from recycled items, scrubs made from fabric that comes from water bottles that would normally fill a landfill and services such as Pure Dental, a green dentist, if you can believe that!
Organic farm raised meats were offered, organic skin care from Nordstrom`s Galleria and the Botanical Gardens at Fair Park taught kids how to grow a butterfly garden. The traditional champagne for the divot stomp was substituted with organic Bluecoat American Dry Gin's "Bluecoat Polo Breeze" cocktail, a refreshing libation enjoyed by all, and the VIP bar served Bluecoat as the official Polo for the Planet spirit.
"Make Love Not Trash" gifted all attendees with recycle bags filled with goodies from various sponsors and VIP`s were gifted again by Anna Sova Homes, whose specialty is a food based paint that smells like a milkshake!
Event organizers were Debora annino, Dena Miller and Lindsey Preston, with honorary chair and author of "Green, American Style", Anna Clark. Guest announcer Eric O`Keefe is a polo player and author. His book "The Cup", a story about Australia's famous horse race, is currently being made into a movie being filmed in the Land Down Under, where the story takes place.
Two great polo matches rounded out the day. Paloma Creek won the preliminary match and Savannah, with both Olivas brothers playing on the same team in years, won the main match. Sophie Gleeson had an amazing game and took the MVP award.

This was an incredible event! Dena Miller has an incredible vision in creating venues that celebrate Polo combined with worthy causes. Everything from the incredible ec0-vendors and businesses to the refreshing eco-cocktails provide by organic Bluecoat American Dry Gin. I would love to see more Polo Clubs participate with Polo for the Planet events, combining our love for the earth with the sport and using the venue to promote sustainable and eco friendly products and businesses in the Polo community!

This event was fabulous! I am eager to paint my daughters room with the food based paint that smells like a milkshake that was gifted to VIP's by Anna Sova Home. And the kids are anxious to grow a butterfly garden! We learned about great safe products we'd never dreamed existed, and watched two awesome polo matches, can't wait to do it again next year!
