Gulf Wings/Sumaya vs. Mahra Polo to play Dubai final
Today Friday March 12th will see teams decide first edition of Dubai Gold Cup
Following what was a thrilling day of semi-finals (on Wednesday, March 10th), the two finalists now await the deciding match of the Threadneedle Dubai Gold Cup at the hosting venue, the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club.
Gulf Wings/Sumaya and Mahra Polo emerged the winners of the two semi-finals in this event reserved for 11- and 12-handicap teams, with six of them having taken part. The first-mentioned team began the match against Zedan Polo in dominant form, but Zedan Polo later caught up with its rival and the match was decided in extra time, during which Matías Vial scored the winning goal, by converting a 60-yard penalty shot, and leaving the scoreboard at 7-6.
The other semi-final was also very even, with many changes in what refers to which team topped the scoreboard. Habtoor Polo began the final chukker with a 6-4 margin over its rival, but Ignacio González scored no less than four goals and led Mahra Polo to victory and to a place in the final by means of an 8-6 result.
The final between Gulf Wings/Sumaya and Mahra Polo is scheduled for this Friday, March 12th, while First Group Polo and Dubia Falcons will the day before play the consolation match.
