Dubai Gold Cup begins
Habtoor Polo overcomes The First Group in event’s opening match
Friday, March 5th was the day for the initial throw-in corresponding to the Threadneedle Dubai Gold Cup at the wonderful Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, as part of tournament that will most surely become a landmark within Middle East polo circles.
Six teams, their handicaps between 11 and 12, are competing for honours, and in the first clash Habtoor Polo narrowly edged The First Group Polo by 7-6. Ed Morris-Lowe scored the winning team’s match-defining goal 30 seconds from the end.
The Gold Cup, endorsed by the Hurlingham Polo Association, continues its way today, Saturday, March 6th, when Zedan Polo and Mahra Polo Team play their first match in the tournament.
There will be action during each of the days leading up to the final, scheduled for next Friday, March 12th.
