All set for Gold Cup, second stage of America’s “Triple Crown”

IPC: One of the world’s most interesting high-handicap tournaments begins Saturday

The United States of America is one of the countries which most attracts polo players due to the amount and quality of its tournaments. Year after year, the trilogy of the International Polo Club Palm Beach’s leading events is among them: the C.V. Whitney Cup, the Gold Cup and the U.S. Open.

The Gold Cup is due kick off this Saturday (March 6th), with three matches being played. Ten outfits will take part in the event, their handicaps not higher than 26, and among the 40 players are the 10-handicap men Facundo and Gonzalito Pieres, Adolfo Cambiaso, Mariano Aguerre, Eduardo Novillo Astrada, Juan Martín Nero, Pablo MacDonough and Bartolomé Castagnola. There will also be a considerable number of 8- and 9-handicap players taking part.

The first day’s fixture is as follows: First match will see Audi play against Crab Orchard, followed by Pony Express vs. Orchard Hill, and Valiente vs. Lechuza Caracas. The Gold Cup’s semi-finals are scheduled for Wednesday 17th, and the final for Sunday 21st.
