The CaRRoL BoYeS Ladies Cup, the first female tournament in Cape Town, South Africa, has become a reality. Its start is only a few days away now, and nearly all the organizational aspects have already been taken care, prior to the first throw-in at the Vale de Vie Polo Club.
Tessa Moxon, part of the Kilakitu lineup, one of the competing teams, tells us about herself and what she thinks of female polo.
LivingPolo: When did you start playing polo? How long ago?
Tessa Moxon: I started playing polo about 3 or 4 years ago.
LP: Where do you usually train or play?
TM: I play in Cape Town at Val de Vie, Cape Hunt and Polo Club, and at Ostrich Ranch. I also travel up to Plettenberg Bay to play and train there.
LP: What are your expectations concerning the 2010 CaRRoL BoYeS Ladies Cup?
TM: I am very thrilled by this event! I can't wait to play, and I hope it will become an annual event, so that ladies polo becomes something even bigger in Cape Town!
LP: What are your views on the South African and international women’s polo scenes?
TM: I think it is all great fun, as more women are getting involved, and with all these ladies events going ahead in South Africa and at an international level, it is growing fast!
LP: Who is your favourite polo player? And female player?
TM: I would say Adolfo Cambiaso, and among the female players, Nina Clarkin.
LP: Which other tournaments will you be competing in this season?
TM: Apart from Val de Vie, I'm planning to go to Plettenberg Bay for several tournaments in March, and then Cape Champs in April, at Kurland.
The CaRRoL BoYeS Ladies Cup kicks off on Friday, February 12th and comes to an end on Sunday 14th, on St. Valentin's day. LivingPolo.com will be closely following the event and keeping you updated, and is proud to be one of the its official sponsors. Our online magazine will also be present during the awards ceremony, presenting a blanket for the tournament’s best pony.
