Jessica Henrich: “I hope this will become an annual event”
The first edition of the CaRRoL BoYeS Ladies Cup is about to begin in South Africa. What follows is an interview with Jessica Henrich, who is competing in the event.
Less than a week from now, the spectacular Val de Vie Polo Club will host the CaRRoL BoYeS Ladies Cup, Cape Town’s (South Africa) first important polo tournament for women.
So as to get to know who will be competing in this event, which is something new for this South African city, here are Jessica Henrich’s answers to our questions. She will be forming part of the Kilakitu team’s lineup.
When did you start playing polo? How long ago?
I started playing 2 years ago, having been an eventer and showjumper all my life.
Where do you usually train or play?
I train and play at Val de Vie, Cape Hunt and Ostrich Ranch polo clubs in Cape Town.
What are your expectations concerning the 2010 CaRRoL BoYeS Ladies Cup?
I think it will give Ladies Polo a much needed boost, and also encourage more Cape Town spectators to come and watch polo, lets hope it becomes an annual event, and goes from strength to strength.
What are your views on the South African and international women’s polo scenes?
I think both are growing, which is great.
Who is your favourite polo player? And female player?
I would have to say Adolfito Cambiaso, and female player, Lia Salvo.
Which other tournaments will you be competing in this season?
The 0-4 goal here at Val de Vie next weekend, the 4 goal tournaments in Plett in March and I'll probably end off the season at Cape Champs in April.
The CaRRoL BoYeS Ladies Cup kicks off on Friday, February 12th and comes to an end on Sunday 14th, on St. Valentin's day.
